Week 14 Review
This painting is Botticelli's Primavera which is on display at the Uffizi museum in Florence, Italy! I got the chance to see this three years ago. Wow, has it really been that long?? The symbolism is extremely important in this painting, albeit debated. I most enjoyed the theories that it had to do with the goddess Venus! Of course, as noted in Friday's announcements, this painting is also representative of the ancient Roman festival, Floralia!

Week 13 Review: Written? Kitten!
This week's announcements may have just saved my spirits for the last few weeks! Here is Written? Kitten! a processor that rewards you with a new kitten picture for every so-many words that you have written. There are also options to get a puppy or bunny picture! Paper writing has never been so cute!

Week 12 Review
This week, my favorite item from the announcements was this cartoon by Tom Gauld originally featured in The Guardian's twitter account! How funny to imagine these twists to Shakespeare's works beyond just bringing it into the present day!

Week 11: Review
Bonus Note: this week's review definitely came in handy! I originally posted many of my posts from this week on my blog from last semester's Indian Epics course! Oops! Good thing I checked! Happily, it is all now fixed and posted where it should be. :)
Since it is my birthday week, I chose an item from the announcements that young Audra would've loved to see! Like many kids, I loved Disney princess movies! However, I was equally fascinated with finding out if the characters had real stories. I would have loved to see this image of the real Pocahontas that was done during her lifetime!

Week 7 Review
My favorite thing from the announcements this week was from Monday, leap day! This postcard is from 1908 and depicts the tradition that women can propose to men on February 29th! Of course, now a woman could propose whenever and to whomever she wants!
Leap day is very special to me because it is my mother's birthday. This year, she celebrated her 13th birthday!
This week on campus is Graduation Gear Up held in the Beaird Lounge of the Union. Seniors can order their caps and gowns, stoles, announcements, and senior photos! It's also a great place to learn details about graduation ceremonies.
It will be held Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10am to 6pm.

Week 4 Review
As I started on a paper for Ancient Art and Archaeology, I couldn't help but laugh at this cartoon! Of course, ancient peoples really did abbreviate a lot of things when it came to carving into stone -- maybe just not pictures of cell phones! :)

Week 3 Review
My favorite announcement post of the week was the feature for Laura Ingalls Wilder's birthday on Sunday, February 7th! I taught myself to read using Little House on the Prairie books after years of listening to the series on cassette tape with my grandma, Gaga. These books hold a very special place in my heart, and I have always viewed Laura Ingalls Wilder as a superb female influence!
